SESSION ABSTRACT


Free access to thousands of magazines, Britannica, and numerous other resources has been provided to North Carolina teachers and students since 1999 through the WiseOwl program. Now we’ve added almost 10,000 eBooks and 12 million AP photos and videos to the collection. Learn how to make the most of these resources by exploring the collection with Webmaster and educator Dan Sparlin.


PRESENTER INFORMATION


Dan Sparlin is a technology consultant for DPI, specializing in using online resources in the curriculum, and copyright issues for schools. Dan was a high school English teacher for 17 years, and served as a school librarian and/or technology facilitator for 6 years at the elementary level and 3 years at the middle school level. He also worked at the central offices in two LEAs before coming to DPI in 1999.

Participants will learn how to access the 10,000 free eBooks on WiseOwl
Participants will be able to find content from specific titles in the collection of 3000 free online magazines.
Participants will be able to utilize WiseOwl resources such as Britannica and the Student Reference Center with the SCOS.
