OBJECTIVES / LEARNING TARGETS

Our partnership focused on developing effective teachers of mathematics at the elementary, middle grades, and secondary levels. In order to accomplish this we enacted a three-phase process in which teachers:
Experience the targeted teaching and learning goals;
Examine the processes underlying the targeted teaching and learning; and
Engage in authentic teaching tasks.
Our session will explore how we used this model to enact learner-centered professional development with teachers. We will describe an example from both the elementary and secondary levels.
